A Refined, Carved Pine George III Chimneypiece, After Robert Adam
A carved pine, stripped and waxed, George III, Neoclassical fireplace after Robert Adam. The moulded and carved breakfront shelf above the frieze which is centred with a tablet decorated with a lidded urn on a foliate base, flanked by swags of flowers upheld by the handles of the urn and at the sides by rings. The flanking side panels with scrolling 'rinceau' of spidery, twisting stems of flowering acanthus. English, circa 1775.
