An 18th Century Italian Chimneypiece Carved in Bardiglio Marble

A mid 18th century fireplace of good proportions, the serpentine shelf and frieze end in octagonal cornerblocks. Small bunches of laurel leaves hung from ribbons run down the jambs. The central tablet is carved with a Rococo mascaron, evidence of the influence of the French decorative style in Italian interiors during that period.
