A George III Carved Pine and Limewood Chimneypiece
An extremely finely carved late 18th century chimnypiece, the shelf is supported by a lamb-tongue motif, while acanthus leaves separate the shelf from the frieze. The central tablet shows a vase with fruit and foliage in Arabesque style, that continues on the frieze and ends with classical urns on the cornerblocks. Ribbons hold vines that gently fall down the jambs, while a flowery pattern frames the opening.
