This finely carved pine fireplace mantel is after a George II original, circa 1750. The inverted breakfront shelf is edged with stylised leaves, and sits above a pair of foliate carved corbels either side of a frieze. The exuberant central acanthus leaf in high relief with richly scrolling tendrils and floral swags to either side. The dog leg opening is framed by further carved leaves in low relief.
