The fireplace is elliptic is shape, including the side returns, jambs, frieze and shelf, this is most unusual. The frieze and pilasters are a rare and desirable fleur de pesco marble, the pilasters taper and terminated with stiff acanthus leaf capitals. Side returns are curved and have raised and fielded panels.
