A good antique Irish, late 18th century Neoclassical statuary marble fireplace; the frieze with continuous convex rounded mouldings. The jambs faced with elegant Herm shaped, gracefully tapering pedestals decorated with convex shafts surmounted by well carved busts of Faustina the Younger (130– 175 AD) and her consort. Wife of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, she was by reputation one of the one of the most scandalous women of ancient Rome. Irish, circa 1795.
