A good English, Regency period fireplace in white statuary marble, with plain panelled frieze and pilaster shaped, rounded reeded jambs. The finely carved paterae endblocks inspired by the French Louis XVI style. This embellishment was originally taken from antiquity, and was introduced in England by Henry Holland having gained popularity in France. Circa 1810.
