A highly important George III statuary marble fireplace, the mantlepiece with delicately moulded edge above a flute-carved band breaking over the jambs the running frieze carved in relief with alternating acanthus and anthemion motifs the stepped jambs each carved with a vertical anthemion capped panel decorated with foliage and pateras terminating in a band of graduated trailing husks. Irish, circa 1780. Originally from 53 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin, Ireland.
