An 18th Century Irish Chimneypiece in White Statuary and Mitchelstown Marble

An architectural and elegant Irish chimneypiece in Palladian style, the breakfront moulded shelf carved in white marble surmounts the frieze in Mitchelstown Marble, separated from the jambs by a simple white moulding. Two fine acanthus leaves decorate the corners of the opening. The contrast of the white and dark materials add restraint to an already effortless composition.
