A Late 18th Century Engraved Leicestershire Swithland Slate Chimneypiece.
A Late 18th Century chimneypiece of Neoclassical proportions in Swithland Slate, quarried in Leicester, England, with a restrained architectural design. Very fine Neoclassical motifs are engraved on the frieze with a urn at centre flanked by garlands, paterae on the corner blocks. Fluted Corinthian pilasters adorn both jambs, standing on rectangle footblocks.
