A 19th Century Statuary White Marble Chimneypiece with Console Legs

A 19th century chimneypiece in the George III style, carved in Statuary white marble with a symmetrical Greek key frieze. The projecting corner blocks are carved with Neoclassical campana urns, celebrations of nature and the circle of life, while the console jambs are adorned with elegant acanthus. The inground is veneered with book-matched Siena marble, adding warmth and contrast. This design reflects the Neoclassical revival under George III, where classical ornament was often used.
