A striking, Italian, 19th Century, streaked Carrara marble chimneypiece
An unusual 19th century antique fireplace in veined Streaked Carrara marble. The moulded shelf with ribbed edge above the ogee barrel shaped frieze. The jambs in the form of tapering, inverted obelisks capped with wonderful acanthus, which grows from deep and tight scrolls and returns over the frieze. The whole upheld by plinth blocks. Circa 1835.
