This chimneypiece is characterised by the curved shoulders of the aperture which lead to a shallow, pointed arch. The simple jambs stand on foot blocks and the header, pierced by the arch, rises upwards and outward to form an ‘eared’ design, a feature typical of eighteenth-century chimneypieces.
