As ever, September is one of the busiest months in design and today kicks off with the London Design Festival, now in its 15th year – further enhancing London as the design capital of the world. There are nine design districts of which Pimlico is one and we have been busy getting the showroom ready, focusing on having most of our reproduction furniture in the shop. We are really pleased to be part of the Pimlico Road Breakfast series in association with Grosvenor and Country & Town House magazine. Charlotte & I are doing a Q&A with Carole Annett on Country House style on Thursday morning discussing Country House Style.
Celebrating the best of Jamb design at London Design Festival.

All the pieces in our collections are based on the finest examples of English and Irish country house furniture that we have owned and that I have loved so much I felt compelled to reproduce.I am drawn to original designs either because of their purity and elegance, from which I have designed furniture like the Hanbury sofa or the Tatham bench or from an antique that had a totally unique, quirky and unusual design of which I didn’t want to part.
It is vital in that to me that each piece is approached in its making without compromise from the bare bones to the hand polished or patinated surface. Each piece designed and created, continues the Jamb tradition of re-creating classic designs with exceptional quality.
I am so proud of the integrity of each of our hand crafted pieces and of the talented team of craftsmen that make this possible. It is always so exciting to see a collection actualised, like our latest lighting collection inspired by the 1920’s industrial age: the Hanbury collection.
As always the forthcoming week promises to be madly busy with wonderful talks, shows, events and parties. I will be visiting Decorex (now in its 40th ) at the sublime sixteenth century Syon House, redesigned in the 18th century by Robert Adam with gardens created by Capability Brown
On Wednesday night Charlotte & I are going to The World of interiors party at the Serpentine Pavilion which is always fun and a great opportunity to catch up with everyone after the summer months. This year’s installation is designed by Francis Kéré, the award winning architect from Burkina Faso. The structure is inspired by the tree in his hometown of Gando, that serves as a central meeting point for life, connecting all that gather to nature and to each other. I can’t think of a better concept.
