An extraordinary, mid-nineteenth century, Italian, carved walnut chimneypiece.
A mid-19th century Italian carved walnut fireplace. The jambs carved with muscular Atlantean figures. They stand on reclining elephants with outstretched trunks. Heaven is represented by twelve-winged and playful armorini on the frieze.
