A 19th Century Louis XVI White Statuary Marble Chimneypiece.

A early 19th century French chimneypiece of architectural form. The panelled jambs support the frieze finely carved with a central patera framed by foliage, classical urns with flowers, fruit and snakes on the corner blocks. The overall design and decorative motifs of the present chimneypiece reflect the French empire style that was flourishing during the 19th century.
