A Louis XVI Carrara Marble Chimneypiece.
A late 18th century, Louis XVI chimneypiece of elegant landscape proportion carved entirely in Carrara Marble. A simply carved running guilloche frieze is flanked by paterae cornerblocks with a shelf above which breaks forward over them. The jambs are carved with tapering fielded panels and are mounted with lush acanthus leaf decoration above the square foot blocks.
