A Late 18th Century Painted Chinoiserie Screen Simulating Coromandel Lacquer

£36,000

Depicting scenes of Imperial courtly leisure, in bold colours evocative of coromandel lacquerwork, and bordered with excellent floral and avian decoration, showing peonies, lilies and parakeets. Each panel fringed with studded leather. The reverse in clean black lacquer, with further floral ornamentation contained within individual canted painted borders. In overall dry, untouched, condition, the panels and hinges restored to a state of functionality whilst retaining highly pleasing patination.
