A Pair of X-Frame Yewwood Stools, c.1820
SOLD
An elegant form, the frames reeded, joined with a central patera and rising to curious spiral motifs, and square tapering feet.
Horsehair saddle seats with a squab cushion fixed with invisible ties, upholstered in a pale grey heavy linen.
A pleasing example of early 19th century urbane elegance made in yewwood, a timber typically associated with simpler, vernacular furniture. Here used to striking effect.
