A Pair of Irish George III Giltwood Mirrors, c.1775, by Francis and John Booker

An outstanding pair of architectural mirrors, Palladian in form, with profusely carved decoration and marginal plates, Corinthian columns supporting a stepped broken pediment, with central urn. From the collection of Howard Phipps, Jr. in Long Island.

Each mirror bears the trade label of the renowned Booker brothers, each reading: Francis & John/ Booker/ Essex Bridge/ DUBLIN. Several outstanding mirrors by the Booker brothers exist, including two others in our collection. Well-known examples can be found in Skinner's Hall, in the City of London, which came from the Manor of Pellipar in Londonderry.
