An Early 20th Century Heriz Carpet

£12400

Exquisitely and exuberantly patterned, this rug was woven in the family workshops of Heriz, on the slopes of Mount Sabalan, Northwest Persia on a small, two or three man loom. The rust red field with large russet and cream medallion and spandrels, within a brown border decorated by simple, stylised palmettes and a linear, snaking design throughout. The overall tone particularly pleasing and muted, the design intricate and measured.
