An Important Irish George II Giltwood Mirror Attributed to John and Francis Booker, Essex Bridge, Dublin

The architectural frame flanked by Corinthian columns with shaped base carved with swags framed by brackets, the cresting with triangular pediment centered by a lion mask issuing swags of flowers, fruit and wheat sheaves.
Note: The mirror plate is an 18th century mercury silvered replacement.

This mirror belongs to a group of mirrors attributed to John and Francis Booker of Essex Bridge, Dublin, including three almost identical mirrors in the outer Hall at Skinners Hall, City of London. Irish, c.1750

Reference image for a comparable mirror, catalogued as part of Christie’s ‘Important English Furniture, Easter Rugs and Carpets’ sale on Thursday 19th November 1981, included.
