Mawley

This chimneypiece, carved here in Occhio Pavone, is characterised by the curved shoulders of the aperture, which lead to a shallow, pointed arch. The simple jambs stand on foot blocks, and the header, pierced by the arch, rises upwards and outward to form an ‘eared’ design, a feature typical of eighteenth-century chimneypieces.
