A 19th century Gothic Revival Stone Chimneypiece.
An attractive and highly decorative Neo-Gothic chimneypiece of small proportions carved in English limestone showing a soft and charming surface. A stepped detail is carved around the opening on the jambs, while an ornamental motif decorates the outer edge all around.
The header is made of three ogee arches with hanging crocketts, strongly reminding the arches in the central courtyard of the Palacio del Infantado in Guadalajara, Spain. Built around 1480 by architect Juan Guas for the second Duke of Infantado, this two-story cloister mixes Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance styles.
