A Very Important Late 18th Century Statuary Marble Chimneypiece

Detached fluted columns terminating in ionic capitals, beneath corner blockings carved with anthemions. The chimneypiece has a centre tablet that closely resembles that by Robert Adam in the library at Kenwood House and this chimneypiece overall echoes his work in much of its detail and in the quality of its execution. The frieze panels are inlaid with stop flutes of richly figured Blue John, which continues to either side of the corner blockings. The chimneypiece has a carved breakfront cornice shelf.
