Based on an early 18th century design by James Gibbs (1682–1754), the bolection frame is surmounted by a frieze which terminates in S-scrolls, echoing the ogee of the bolection mould, the whole capped with a moulded breakfront shelf. Carved in solid Italian Grey Breche marble.
