The Ockwell Andirons

The turned column standards with moulded rings and round finials on hammered supports with flat bases, the billet bars fitted with similar column log supports. Andirons, or fire dogs were recorded as being made early in the 16th century in the foundries of the Sussex Weald from locally mined iron and using charcoal for fuel from the extensive forests of the region.
