A Late 18th Century Irish Georgian Chimneypiece in Irish Black and Kilkenny Marbles
A late 18th century Irish Georgian Chimneypiece of simple architectural form, carved in an arrangement of Irish marbles, Black and Kilkenny. A plain central tablet, more densely clustered with fossils, sits beneath a shelf which breaks forward over it. The frieze and jambs are also in Kilkenny marble, although with fossils that are more dispersed. Slight embellishment comes in the form of a reeded inground.
