A Pretty, Rococo Style Chimneypiece in Variegated Breche Violette Marble

A pretty French, mid-18th century, Louis XV rococo style fireplace in variegated Breche Violette marble from the Serravezza region of Carrara, of good colour with bold lilacs and soft pinks on a white background. The serpentine moulded shelf with rounded corners above the one-piece curvilinear frieze, with raised carved mouldings echoing the shape of the opening resting on the tapering console bracket headed jambs, the whole supported and raised on foot blocks. Circa 1750.
