An unusual French, early 19th century Charles X (1824–1830) black marble chimneypiece of earlier Louis XVI rectangular shape. The oblong rectangular shelf with rounded corners, the frieze and jambs with inset stylised elongated leaf and berry decoration, framed by flat mouldings, the lower section of the jambs with lozenge shaped decoration. The whole standing on squared footblocks with rounded caps.
