Whats in the bag? An Unveiling of new reproduction designs and news stories.
1 March 2019

Next week we are going to be getting ready for Design week starting on 11th March. We will be changing the showroom around swapping out some of the antique chimneypieces to try and give ‘airtime’ to all over the 150 antique mantels we have in stock. There is also a real excitement about the new collection of chimneypieces that we are about to launch that join our reproduction fireplace marble and stone collections. We have worked for months developing our ideas, inspired by antiques we have and then tweaking, redrawing and playing with different marbles and stones before resting on the final design.

There are a total of eight new reproduction designs that have been created and they cover a breadth of periods and materials, from early 18th Century to Lutyens made in aged Portland stone to Italian Breche, full of wonderful hues of lilacs, tobacco and soft greens running throughout. We are going to stand four of the new collection in time for Design week and we are looking forward to offering some fresh designs. At our workshop/ warehouse in Mitcham we have huge blocks of various Breche marbles, Derbyshire fossils, Carraras and Arabescato in the yard waiting to the carved into these wonderful mantels.

To convey the purity of making a design in Breche Voilette we made a new Jamb advert detailing the 18th Century bolection we have in our home that has inspired so many facsimile copies. Together with Charlotte, Henry and of course Simon Upton we have enormous fun creating the images while all fighting over who has the best idea.

Charlotte and I often argue over whose ideas are best but I wouldn’t be able to work with anyone else. We understand each other completely in how we need the Jamb collection to be.

Arabella Youens at Country life recently wrote an article about us and how I met Charlotte in New York fourteen years ago, becoming my wife collaborator and business partner at Jamb. Which you can read here.
