The Hanbury Lighting Collection.
17 February 2017

This weekend the Saturday Telegraph magazine is featuring our house in Hanbury Street. When we had to move premises from Dove Walk in Pimlico in 2012 we had an auction at Christies of all my antiques that had filled the large space.
It was an incredible moment in time and luckily for us a huge success. It enabled us to buy Hanbury Street which was a wonderful but crumbling 1890’s building in East London.

It was a completely different canvas for me in terms of design. The building demanded something different from our Georgian house in Camberwell. I started working on designing lighting that had a 1920’s industrial feel.

The Jamb reproduction lighting designs that I used in Hanbury street include the Cruxton table, theApsley dish lights and the Cobbler’s stool.

By the time it came to the end of the project (that took two years to complete) we had created a collection of lighting, defined by a group of designs that are smaller and more versatile than the standard Jamb collection. It seemed only appropriate that it was named the Hanbury collection.

The Adler and theMo wall lights on the top shelf, with the Croft wall lights below, are inspired largely by the 1920s industrial age.

The ‘Hanbury collection’ is a particularly exciting range as it incorporates wall lights and hanging lanterns that are perfect for all rooms and IP rated for bathrooms.

I have worked hard at creating a lower price point for this collection, whilst maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that Jamb’s reproduction designs are renowned for.

The Adler fixed wall fixture in a heavy cast brass, shown here in nickel, is also available in brown bronze, brass and antique brass.

The Adler is also designed as an hanging lantern. I liked it so much, I installed it in our Camberwell home.

Drawing on the similarities of the industrialisation of the 1920’s, our reproduction lighting is solidly engineered and each piece is hand finished.

The Croft wall light above is an heavy brass swivel wall light with a choice of a reeded or studded shade in over six finishes.

The handmade metal coolie shade of the Kick hanging lantern, that is also available in over six different finishes again, embodies the continued integrity of the attention to Jamb craftsmanship. The Kick hanging lantern sells at the lowest price point of the Hanbury collection.

TheConroy light was my first light in the collection, shown here in an antique bronze finish, it has become one of our most popular and versatile wall lights. A heavy brass fixture with a hand crafted central opaline glass. It is only by feeling the weight of this light range that you can truly acknowledge the quality of the craftsmanship involved and like many of our reproduction designs when they are installed within the home they fit seamlessly, as though it is an original itself.
