A finely carved pine and Lime wood, stripped and waxed, English, mid eighteenth century antique fireplace. Circa 1755.
The moulded shelf with foliate and egg and dart mouldings, the frieze centered with a tablet very well carved with a hunting horn and a quiver of arrows entwined with flowers. The flanking side panels with scrolling foliage and the blockings with acanthus decorated brackets. The pilaster jambs with graduating inverted flower heads. The opening framed with well carved mouldings of further flower heads tied by ribbon, below is a continuous running pearl moulding.
