Knole

A Jacobean style chimneypiece, carved with elegant geometric Gothic strapwork across the frieze. These designs of interlacing carved bands were brought to England by Flemish woodworkers in the early 16th Century and absorbed into English Gothic and Ecclesiastic vernacular, notable examples being at Misarden Park c. 1620 and Montacute House c. 1598.
