A French Louis XVI style mantelpiece in veined statuary marble with impressive and well-cast gilt bronze mounts. The rectangular shelf with rounded ends. The frieze with well-cast ormolu flower heads applied to the marble frame, the console shaped scrolled and fluted jambs surmounted with gilt bronze torsos of breasted Greek maidens with coiffured hair and mounted with lush acanthus leaf decoration above the foot blocks. Circa 1870.
