A handsome 19th century carved-pine fireplace mantel in the Palladian style in the manner of Gibbs. The simple breakfront shelf sits above bold egg and dart moulding and a central tablet carved with a Nemean lion mask set against a stiff-leaf barrel frieze. The dog leg opening is framed by a border of stylised acanthus leaves, with a garland of finely carved oak leaves and acorns on the jambs to either side.
