An outstanding 18th century, Neoclassical, white statuary marble antique fireplace of superb quality, sculpted to the very highest standard. Originally from Merrion Square, Dublin, Ireland, circa 1780. The frieze with four inverted bunches of floral sprays hanging from paterae which are draped and joined by linen swags which terminate and gently fall over the top of the jambs. The rectangular shelf with egg and dart, the opening framed by delicately carved foliate mouldings.
